Morongo Valley CSD Appoints New Director

On October 20, 2010 the Morongo Valley Community Service District Board of Directors filled a vacancy by appointing Michael J. Francis to the position of Director of Legislation & Projects.
Michael J. Francis was raised in Morongo Valley and brings a historical perspective to his new post. As a volunteer Firefighter with Morongo Valley FD, he was one of the first Emergency Medical Technicians in the Valley. He continued his career in the fire service and worked for the Palm Springs Fire Department, for 27 years, ultimately attaining the rank of Battalion Chief.
Mr. Francis also served the community in many capacities on a personal level: Chairman of the Morongo Valley Fiesta Days; President of the M.V. Elementary School PTA; Treasurer YVHS Lady Trojan Basketball Booster Club and President of the PS Firefighters’ Assn.
The MVCSD Board of Directors faced a tough challenge since 3 qualified, capable and willing residents applied for the position. Candidates Ray Sessum and Mark Mitchell contributed many hours of volunteer service to Park & Recreation programs and projects and helped to improve the quality of life for all residents.
Francis said, “I am honored to be a part of our community’s governmental process. Any of the candidates would have been a benefit to our Morongo Valley CSD, Board of Directors as they all have a heart for community service and volunteerism.”
President Chuck Osborne thanked Sessum and Mitchell for their community and military service and encouraged them to seek office a year from November when the next election will be held.
